Peter Kennedy spoke at the AGM of ABC Friends WA, held on 12 November.

Peter started work as a journalist with The West Australian. He later reported politics for The Sydney Morning Herald in both Sydney and Canberra. He joined ABC Radio in Perth in 1990 and presented both the Drive and Morning programs. He also anchored the weekly TV current affairs program Stateline after the locally produced 7.30 Report was axed in 1995. He was appointed State Political Reporter for ABC TV News in 2000, and held the post till his retirement in 2010, when he joined the University of Notre Dame Australia as an adjunct professor.

Peter was active in the campaign to keep the Sunday night 7 pm news bulletin state based. He believes the ABC needs more resources in WA, and that people want more local news.
