The incoming chair of the ABC says the organisation needs to listen carefully to its staff, including one of its most senior journalists, John Lyons, who this week said the broadcaster had shown pro-Israel bias and was failing to protect staff against external complaints.
Kim Williams, who was announced on Wednesday by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Communications Minister Michelle Rowland as the next chair of the public broadcaster, took a different approach to staff concerns from that of outgoing chair Ita Buttrose, who had rejected any criticism of management.
